Wirral Quiz League

At the end of the main season, Gladly Stoned have been crowned champions, with Oxton Conservatives taking the runners-up spot.

Congratulations to Wallaseyans, who take the Division 2 title by 5 clear points, beating St Laurence's into second place.

The producers of a new BBC FOUR quiz show are looking for smart and interesting contestants for brand new quiz that tests general knowledge and mental agility skills to the limit.

They are looking for individual players as well as teams of up to three players who share a common passion, hobby or profession, who have what it takes to take on the fiendish puzzles in this challenging word game.

This year's Wirral Individual Competition (MIMIR) will take place at New Brighton Cricket Club on Thursday 19th Feb, starting at 8pm.  All players who have taken part in Wirral matches this season are eligible to take part, and the highest placed competitors will go forward to the Merseyside wide MIMIR competition which will take place on March 18th in Warrington (up to semi-finals).  The final will be held at the MQL presentation night on May 13th in Liverpool.

Due to circumstances beyond their control,  Irby Nomads are unable to remain at Heswall RBL. For the rest of the season they will be playing their home matches at the Thingwall Recreation Centre, Sparks Lane, Thingwall CH61 7XE tel: 0151 648 4120

It has been brought to our notice that Bill Carter, a member of the New Brighton Cricket Club team, passed away on 3rd November.  Our condolences go out to his family and friends.

The fixtures for September have been published in the fixtures calendar. The League handbooks, which contain the full fixture lists will be handed out at the League presentation night, to be held at Thingwall Recreation Centre on Sunday 28th September 2014 at 8.30pm

In addition to the prize giving-the evening will include a meeting of the Wirral Quiz League, a free buffet and the 3rd Wirral Pairs Quiz Competition with prizes for the winners

Hungry Bear are currently making a brand new quiz show for ITV called ‘1000 Heartbeats’, hosted by Vernon Kay. In this show contestants will be competing against their very own clock...their heartbeat!
